My residency and practicum were at a private practice clinic specializing in children, adolescents, teens and adult women. The experience led me to develop a deep affinity for play therapy, interpersonal neurobiology and mindfulness-based therapy to empower clients to develop their own sense of self-worth and self-compassion. I went on to work with children, adolescents, and teens coping with the effects of divorce, grief, stress, anxiety, and school related issues. I enjoy working with adults, as well, particularly women. I draw upon many approaches to create a compassionate, yet challenging experience and therapeutic environment for each client. In this integrative approach, I use a variety of evidence-based treatments and techniques: mindfulness-based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, strength-based therapy, and somatic therapy. I also have experience coaching clients to help with short-term goal setting, relationship and job transitions, as well as self-esteem, health, and wellness issues. A Viktor Frankl quote guides my work: When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. Helping my clients see that they have the strength to choose their response regardless of their situation is the bedrock of my work, and the source of passion I derive from seeing each client develop self-worth and self-agency.
