Transforming Touch Therapy® is a gentle, body-based approach that supports healing by helping the nervous system move out of survival states and into a place of safety, connection, and regulation. Rooted in the understanding that our bodies hold the imprint of our life experiences, this work offers a way to process stress and trauma beyond words.
Using light, intentional touch (with your full consent and fully clothed, not like a massage at all), Transforming Touch Therapy® helps restore a sense of grounding and stability in the body. It can be especially beneficial for individuals who experience anxiety, overwhelm, dissociation, or the lingering effects of trauma. Rather than “fixing” symptoms, this approach focuses on creating the internal conditions for healing to naturally unfold. Clients often report feeling more present, calm, and connected to themselves and to others.
Dr. Stephen Terrell developed Transforming Touch Therapy® after many years of working with clients who suffered from deep developmental trauma. He continues to head the efforts to train many therapists across the globe to offer this modality in their therapeutic work.
Sessions are slow, respectful, and attuned to your pace, allowing your nervous system to build trust and resilience over time. Transforming Touch Therapy® can be integrated with talk therapy or used as a standalone support, offering a deeply nurturing pathway toward emotional and physical well-being.
