Life Care Wellness Therapists are always reading and recommending books to their clients. These are some of their favorites and most often used.
Check back often - the list will be continuously updated!

Marina Lisjonok, LCSW, MSW, E-CYT, RRT loves Breath of God by Swami Chetanada. “It’s written in the format of daily reflections, applying spiritual concepts to your every day life to help obtain peaceful state of mind”.

Gayle Pape, LCSW recommends Life is in the Transitions by Bruce Feller. “It is a powerful book on how we experience and navigate changes in our lives. It’s informational with lots of stories and relevant to all of us that go through changes in our lives”.

Jordan Spinnazola, MSW, LSW, ACSW recommends The Whole Brain Child by Daniel J Siegel, M.D., and Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D.  “I recommend this not only for parents but for teachers and other professions that are around kids as well as people to understand how the brain works and possibly give insight into some of their childhood stuff.”

According to Rhonda Kelloway, LCSW, SEP, this book has been life-changing for many of her clients. Van der Kolk, a research MD who is one of the pioneers in trauma research, shows how trauma literally reshapes the brain and body. This compromises a trama survivor’s ability to connect, experience pleasure, trust, etc. The book, which was published about ten years ago, has done much to help people understand that trauma doesn’t live in the story- it lives in the body. This is why we do body-oriented trauma therapy at Life Care Wellness!
