I began my career teaching at a small Bible college in central Mozambique. Personal experience with PTSD led to a career change, and I became a therapist. My own experience with trauma enables me to empathize with clients and create a space where they feel safe processing painful memories. I also treat clients with anxiety, mood disorders, spiritual concerns, and struggles with family of origin. My experience makes me well-equipped to work with pastors, missionaries and other people in ministry who are struggling with burnout, trauma and identity/vocational confusion. My therapeutic style is gentle and person-centered; I use CBT, DBT, Internal Family System and have training in EMDR. I am working towards certification in Somatic Experiencing. It is a joy to journey with people through their struggles and into a life of greater contentment. I see clients in the Glen Ellyn and Sycamore offices.
